Nanjing 南京 / Qixia Temple 栖霞寺

Today we went on the Qixia Mountain, northeast of Nanjing and very close to the University. There are two main temple halls; we saw the hall with the Maitreya statue. Behind the temple is the thousand Buddha cliff 千佛芽 (Qianfo Ya). Several small caves housing stone statues are carved into the hillside, the earliest of which dates from the Qi dynasty  (AD 479 - 502). Unfortunaly most of the statue had the head cut off!! But anyway, was a very nice visit here, and we dident saw everything. So we will back here soon.
